What happens when a team arrives at Lake Balaton with vintage clothes, vibrant patterns, mesh tops, sequins, gold jewelry, and a good dose of self-irony?
Something like this.

The inspiration was born somewhere between Italian summers, 80s and 90s beach culture, flashy parasols, motorboats, too many gold chains, and even more character. We weren't looking for perfection, but for that slightly exaggerated, a bit common, yet incredibly lovable feeling that gives a summer day its own story.

We built the photoshoot around three different moods.

The first was a true "beach set that is actually not for the beach at all" concept. Mesh tops, sequins, vibrant colors, striking jewelry, and outfits that would probably make everyone stare on the shore â that was exactly the goal. The shallow water of Lake Balaton became the perfect backdrop for this Mediterranean chaos.

The second story took the day in a slightly more elegant direction. Vintage silk shirts, patterned pieces, sunglasses, long scarves, and the deck of a sailboat. A touch of Italian luxury with a lot of vintage character â as if the characters had stepped out of an old holiday photo album.

The third set was perhaps the most spectacular. The sequined dresses, glittering fabrics, and strong makeup would initially be more suited for an evening event, but we brought them to the waters of Lake Balaton. This contrast is what we liked about it: elegant clothes, barefoot, floating in the water or jumping into it. Sometimes the best fashion photos are created when clothes are not used for their intended purpose at all.

At Szputnyik, the outfits that are closest to our hearts are always those with personality. Clothes that don't blend into the crowd but tell a story. This photoshoot wasn't just about clothes, but about characters. A heavily jeweled beach king, a sequined diva, an Italian heiress posing on a sailboat, or even a group of people who look like they walked from the set of an eighties Mediterranean film to the shore of Lake Balaton. We love when an outfit not only looks good but also gives an entire personality to the wearer.

Because vintage has always been more than just a collection of clothes for us. A well-chosen outfit can bring a mood, an era, or even an entire story to life. This photoshoot was also about that: colors, humor, authenticity, and how style sometimes works best when it doesn't take itself too seriously at all.

This year, Balaton turned into an Italian riviera for a day. Or at least, we really wanted to believe it.
