Now we represent you one of the most reproduced work that is Katsushika Hokusai' s The Great Wave of Kanagawa from 1830. This woodcut was made as the first part of the 36 pieces serie, called Fuji.
It has an unique perspective. Instead of replacing the mount in the middle of the picture, Hokusai depicted the Mount Fuji at the background to let the waves and the rocking drifters dominate the picture. This composition is traditionally japanese, meiso-e (a picture represents a famous place) style, but Hokusai turned it to the contrary. It gives the uniqueness of the woodcut beside its beauty.
